What camera do you use?

I am so enjoying the beautiful pictures on everyone's blogs. Just from looking at them, I have learned a lot about what makes an arresting image, how to compose a shot, how to emphasize a theme (like Cowboysandsunsets's recent post about her husband's hands). I can't put all this into practice yet but it is fun to explore the ideas.

All this looking has made me curious about other peoples' cameras. My new little Canon is pictured above, along with the nice girly pink case I bought for it. The main thing that drew me to this camera (apart from good reviews) was its small size and mighty features combined. I love to have the camera with me on rides, on walks, and so forth. This one is so little it can go in a jeans pocket, or even in the sugar-pocket of riding breeches.

So spill if you will: What camera do you use for those great photos, and what do you love about it?

I have an old Nikon Coolpix 5200 that has been a good workhorse. It fits in a jeans pocket (if the jeans are loose enough) and is easily set to any number of pixels. I tend to keep it set to low pixels since most of my pix are for internet or emailing. But, I love it and am not currently looking at upgrading. I did encourage my sister to buy a new one recently since she is heading to Japan and needs something easy to use.

Chris bought Megan a Samsung S630 with 6 mega pixels. It's not small enough to fit in jeans pockets but it does fit in a shirt pocket. We really like it-but Megan has reached it's limits and is looking to upgrade. She would like to be able to take detailed close-up photos and action shots. It does just fine for my needs-LOL.

And alla yall have just gorgeous pictures on your blogs so this is a strong endorsement of each of your cameras. BrownEyed, I'll be curious to hear what Megan decides to move up to! Molly, I'm always torn between low-pix and high, because who knows I might be taking that next prize-winning photo hahaha...

Since I have a photography business to "borrow" equipment from, I have an unfair advantage equipment wise. I do most of my shooting with the Big Daddy Nikon D3. For photography geeks its super duper cool.

It's baby brother the D300 is a great buy for the money, but still a pretty hefty investment.

But, I do take a fair amount of quick shots also with my husband's Sony point and shoot (Cybershot). It has a crystal clear Leica lens and fits in a shirt pocket. Only complaint I have with it is the shutter delay in low light. Makes capture animal gestures very difficult.

I also do some with my iphone camera. Image quality isn't great and its even slower than the Sony but hey sometimes you just work with what you have!

I currently use a Nikon D50, but that's going to change on Friday and I get my hands on my new Nikon D300! I love it because the pictures look great, even on auto.

I use a Canon EOS Rebel, the reason I like it is I think it takes good pictures and it's basically point and shoot. which is the only way I can operate, and I find it's not that easy to put my thumb in every picture, but I still do once in a while.

I have two digital cameras: Kodak Easyshare Z710 and a Nikon Coolpix S210. Both are SUPER easy to use, which is very important to me as I'm a bit of a non-techno geek. lol I really like the Koday except for the fact that its a bit big and bulky. The Nikon is very small and because of that is now my main camera. I can take it anywhere and keep it in my purse.
My non-digital, which I do still use on occassion, is a Pentax. Not sure what kind but it takes very good pictures.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm going to check yours out. So far I like it!

I am so pleased you asked others about camera, now I can know.
I use a 5.1 mega pixel off brand made by Fuji, it is not great, but I think it is more the operator than the camera. lol

Everyone thanks so much for sharing this info - it does seem there are a lot of affordable good small simple digital cams out there and so we are blessed. I think I am the biggest technical problem with my camera, sadly enough. My DH works in IT and he has a little secret code for certain computer problems "PIBKAC". A PIBKAC problem means "Problem is Between Keyboard And Chair". hehehe well, yes.
