TA-DAAAHH!!! The Bowing Horse

Also known as: Wasting time teaching horse tricks instead of doing serious work. Also known as: He's not bowing as much as I am. Also known as: He is only following the treat hand down in confident expectation: Gimmee, I know you got some.

But I love it! My genius horse John and I can surely take this act on the road if the economy continues to implode. I can sell patent medicines I will create out of honey and rye whiskey, and John can entertain the kiddies. Montana can come too and demonstrate his talent for drooling. Just the idea of a treat has him drooling buckets. Star quality drool mind you. Yes, we are secure; so blow winds! As long as I don't throw my back out bowing.

I disagree that "tricks" aren't serious training... I am always telling my dog students that if you are "teaching" it's training, whether it's a life saving exercise or something cute to show your friends.... it's training, and takes time, patience and praise... so keep working on those tricks... they are great!!!!

Thank you Sue - they sure are fun and I can tell John's mind is engaged, even if he is thinking loudly of his reward!

*LOL*

keep us posted!

look at that mane on him. unruly and windswept, and pure white. golden and red horses always look best in winter. they are the color "warm" when everything around them is frozen. in contrast, grey horses in snow, not so pretty.

wait, there's more to see! i just enlarged your photo and omygoodness look at those ears at halfmast! and dapples! and look, your outfit matches your halter and lead! did you do that on purpose?

Lytha, I love the color burgundy and try to get everything in that color, from halters to socks to tired eyeballs. It is kind of a joke at my boarding barn, and whenever anybody buys something burgundy they flaunt it at me, knowing I will long for one of whatever. I believe it makes me a much better horseperson to match LOL. Isn't that what they mean by 'true harmony'? WHAT, IT ISN'T??

John is a very talented horse indeed and I'm sure Montana can drool better than anyone else at the barn. If need be taking them on the road would be very profitable, I'm sure.
I'm wondering since you did the better bow, what was your treat.
P.S. I love burgundy stuff too and sometimes I cross over to dark hunter green.

Hope you're up for an award, stop by when you get the chance.

Teaching horse tricks is NOT a waste of time...I've taught Dudley how to shake hands.

I've also made him watch the "trick train your pony" VHS tape over and over but he hasn't picked up any other tricks!!

Hi Flying Lily,
I'm glad you enjoyed getting your award. If you need help in getting the picture, here's how you do it. Click on the picture then when it comes up, right click on (save image as) put it in your pictures folder/program and when you need it for the post waaalaa there it is. Hope this helps, it took me a while to figure it out too. Of course this works with my program, hope it does with yours.

OneCowGirl: I LOVE the image of you and Dudley watching the horse tricks video!!! He's probably thinking, "Those poor fools!"

GreyHorse: Thanks, will do.
